CONCEPT
The painting depicts the Festa do Divino de Paraty, a religious and folkloric celebration held annually in the charming city. Since the 18th century, this festival has established itself as one of the most traditional and important events in Brazilian culture, and has been recognized as Intangible Heritage of Brazil by IPHAN. During the festivities, the community comes together for masses, litanies, musical shows and delicious lunches at Praça da Matriz, in addition to distributing sweets and meat to those in need. The preparations, which begin a year in advance, involve the dedication of more than one hundred volunteers, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the local population.
